Graduates at Willowbrook Farm
Friday 9th July 2010
Recently, we have welcomed graduate Cara Galloway to our Quality Assurance team. Cara originally worked at Willowbrook during a 16 week work placement while reading for her degree in Food Quality, Safety and Nutrition at Queen’s University Belfast.
Cara said “I live locally to Willowbrook Farm and had always been aware of company having seen their products in retail outlets, so when I reached the stage in my degree where it was time to undertake a work placement I decided to contact them."
She took the initiative and contacted our Technical department who invited her to come down for an interview. As an enthusiastic and talented person, she quickly found her feet working as part of our busy Quality Assurance team.
She went on to say “Completing a work placement helped me to take the things I had learnt in theory and put them into practice. In essence it helped to put my knowledge in to context and when my placement was over and I returned to University I was able to see things with a new perspective.
“There is still a lot for me left to learn and I’m looking forward to it, there are so many different areas within the food industry which I find interesting; I’d love to be involved in New Product Development at some stage in my career.”
Cara passed her BSc with first class honours and is now a full time member of the team.
